TCSS Schools & Offices Closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025

TCSS Families, Faculty, & Staff,

Due to the extreme cold and the possibility of hazardous travel, all Tuscaloosa County School System schools and offices will be closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025. All extracurricular activities are canceled for January 21, 2025.

The most up-to-date forecast has Tuscaloosa County right on the edge of the predicted winter weather impact area. If the line shifts at all, or if we get any amount of precipitation, this would result in significant travel impacts, considering the extremely cold ground temperatures. This forecast is very similar to the one we saw for January 28, 2014, where the impact area quickly shifted north and roads quickly became impassible. While there is a chance we may see no precipitation Tuesday, we simply cannot take a chance on putting our students, faculty, staff, and families in danger. Also, we are a large county, and different parts of our county may experience different weather on Tuesday. Safety is our top priority, and we must make the safest decision for all of our schools and bus routes.
