The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education will hold finalist interviews for the position of Superintendent on November 4 and 5, 2025. 

The Tuscaloosa County School System is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Superintendent. Candidates must be committed to student achievement and building on the current educational foundation and accomplishments achieved and established over the past several years.

Deadline for receipt of applications is 5 pm CST on October 14, 2025. 

After five years serving as Superintendent of the Tuscaloosa County School System, Dr. Keri Johnson is stepping down to pursue another opportunity.

Upon learning of Dr. Johnson’s upcoming departure, Tuscaloosa County Board of Education President Bill Squires expressed his gratitude to Dr. Johnson for her service. He also said information will be shared as soon as possible, regarding a search for the next Superintendent of the Tuscaloosa County School System.

Earlier this year, the Alabama Legislature passed a law that prohibits students from using wireless communication devices during the instructional day in Alabama public schools. Learn about what this new law means for students in the Tuscaloosa County School System.
